MAVS!

My friend Vicki invited us to hang in her suite for our first ever Dallas Mavs game.  I even embarrassed myself and said this is the team that "Dirk" is on, right!?  I only remember him because he is 7'4" AND JJ stood next to Legos built like Dirk.  That stuff stays with ya.  LOL

As you can see, we are not basketball fans so I wasn't thrilled... but I love Vicki and to my surprise... I couldn't hear the squeaky shoes so it ended up being FUN!!!

My boy has the tickets!!

We arrive.. and it's all loud and exciting... and he's staring at the cheerleaders (and I'm thinking seriously, ALREADY!?") and he says... "Mommy... I don't see Hadley"... it was SO sweet. I said, no honey, she's not out there... YET.  ;)

DONE!!

I'll add more here and there on the walls.  but for now, I'm so thankful!!

Pulley's away

I bought T a bucket at the dollar store...  I told him to ask Daddy for a pulley system... I could send up snacks, a drink.... he could pull up leaves, rocks, sticks.... anything.

Daddy rocked it out today!!

I sent up two salami sandwiches, some chips, cookies, a foot long fruit roll up and two sprites.

January "service" project

I've been thinking and thinking and thinking on what our service project could be. usually this is easy for me but not this month.

Until yesterday when I got this email..... no brainer.  Our $75 was going to this and we would find a way to do something that was free... our money will be well spent. I cannot stand to hear of someone trying to find money to warm themselves and feed their children.... NO BRAINER.

Dear Family and Friends,

I realize you don't usually hear from me on the weekends but my conversation this evening with one of my Board of Directors necessitates that I write this letter.
We have learned of yet another local family that is financial crisis due to her husband's recent arm injury. Daniel knows this family personally and has been praying with them since he was told about the accident. The husband was injured badly at work but the medical decision was to allow him to go back if there was something he could do with only one arm. His employer required him to drive a commercial vehicle, (yes, with one arm) leaving his in worse shape than he was. The end result is no compensation since the injury. Both the husband and the wife and their two children are very strong Christians and know that The Lord is allowing this to happen for a reason. They have depleted their savings and not asked anyone for any financial help. When I asked her if it would help her at all if our ministry paid for their electric bill, she started crying and replied, "I don't want to say yes. I don't want to be the one who needs help. I am used to giving to others...this is so hard. But the truth is, if you pay for our power bill this week, I can go buy groceries." Both the mother and the father are VERY hard workers with incredible work ethic and seen as a light of Jesus in their community.
I would like to pay for their utilities for two months in addition to giving them a $100 gas card to help with her transportation to and from work. I am going to estimate this will be around $600 but I don't know for sure because I have not contacted the power company or gas company yet.
If you are interested in helping this family, please make a donation by PayPal or check and then email me. If possible, note on your donation, "for January family in crisis." All funds that come in designated for them will go directly to them utilities and vehicle gas.
I am being contacted almost weekly about families in terrible financial situations with their children due to the economy. I fear this will only get worse with the increase in taxes and other changes that are coming. Although our primary scope for our ministry is to help the extremely impoverished in Romania, I know there will be times when The Lord is leading us to help those here in the USA as He is now. May His perfect will be done.
Basking In The Son,
Michelle
